The site will be flagged marking wetlands, ponds, and raised beds according to the site plans provided.
The wetlands and ponds will be excavated at a slope of 3:1 (approximately 17 deg) to a maximum depth of 5’.
The drainage ditch will have an initial depth of 1’ and a slope of 1% as indicated in Table (raised bed drawing). The soil extracted will be placed on one side for use in raised bed gardens.
After excavation of the French drain, most of the soil will be returned to place after the construction of the drain is finished. The remaining soil will be used in the nearest raised beds
In all excavations, the topsoil will be extracted carefully and managed for replacement as needed for final shaping, or for placement on top of raised-beds gardens (see below). Soil destined for planting beds shall be “live handled” if possible (delivered directly from excavation to foundation-prepared (ripped) subsurfaces). When live handling is not possible, storage times and depths shall be minimized (to preserve microbial vitality).
All soil not returned to excavation sites shall be used to shape raised-bed gardens as they appear in site plans. Before pouring the soil to conform the beds, subsurfaces should be ripped to promote new soil/old soil interfaces and encourage deep rooting of planted materials.
Soil remaining in or returned to linings of ponds/wetlands/ditches will be compacted.
The soil will be stabilized as soon as possible after finishing the earthworks. Mulching, planting, and/or hydroseeding will begin as soon as the earthwork is finished in order to prevent erosion and invasion by unwanted plants
Bamboo will be planted along the edge of the site for stabilization and screening, to be installed in a way that accommodates post-and-wire fencing.
